
Short Biography
I received a B.S. degree in Biology from Sonoma State University (California) and a Ph.D. in Biology/Neurobiology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I was a Professor of Biology at Arizona State University until 2004 when I accepted the position of Frank Hawkins Kenan Distinguished Professor of Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. My academic awards include a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of St. Andrews (Scotland, 1994) and a Guggenheim Fellowship (2002/03).
